We call it a journey because we are offering acupuncture with a consciousness of set and setting that is woven into the fabric of the clinic, and incorporates a tailored sound journey on an InHarmony acoustic vibration treatment bed. This provides a psychedelic-like experience to allow you to “drop in” deeper to the treatment and hopefully enhance your healing process.
Acupuncture, a key therapeutic modality of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), has been practiced for over 2,000 years, originating from ancient Chinese beliefs about balancing the body’s “vital energy” or “Qi.” It involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to restore the flow of Qi, promoting healing and relieving pain. Medical acupuncture means that we provide acupuncture by our Integrative Doctor trained in both modern and ancient forms of Chinese medicine. Our medical acupuncture visits include both needle-based treatments, and continued medical guidance and support around your care goals that are initially explored at your initial consultation.
Trigger point therapy or trigger point injections (TPI) were developed in the mid-20th century as a treatment for myofascial pain, rooted in research on muscle dysfunction and pain referral patterns. It is a conventional medical treatment modality used to help relieve muscle pain and tension by targeting specific knots, tender points or “trigger points” in the muscle tissue. A small amount of lidocaine, a local anesthetic (no epinephrine and can be optional), is injected directly into the trigger point to numb the area, and work along with the needle effects to reduce pain, and relax the muscle.
This therapy can help provide relief for conditions such as: chronic muscle pain, tension headaches, fibromyalgia and other conditions with musculoskeletal pain and tension. The procedure is low risk, minimally invasive, and would be part of a comprehensive pain management or integrative care plan to help rehabilitate and heal globally. We are especially trained in the incorporation of trigger point therapy along with medical acupuncture for synergistic effects.
