Medical Acupuncture & Trigger Point Therapy

Offered by
Dr Thaìs Salles Araujo and Dr Justin Laube

At our clinic, we offer two evidence-supported, needle-based therapies—medical acupuncture journeys and trigger point injections—to provide comprehensive care for various concerns and symptoms. These treatments are offered individually, or synergistically by targeting both the body’s energetic pathways and specific muscle knots, addressing the root causes of discomfort.
Medical acupuncture promotes healing by restoring the flow of vital energy (Qi), while trigger point injections focus on releasing tight muscle areas to improve mobility and reduce pain.
These therapies offer an integrative complementary approach to support your overall well-being and enhance the healing process.

What is trigger point therapy?

Trigger point therapy or trigger point injections (TPI) were developed in the mid-20th century as a treatment for myofascial pain, rooted in research on muscle dysfunction and pain referral patterns.  It is a conventional medical treatment modality used to help relieve muscle pain and tension by targeting specific knots, tender points or “trigger points” in the muscle tissue. A small amount of lidocaine, a local anesthetic (no epinephrine and can be optional), is injected directly into the trigger point to numb the area, and work along with the needle effects to reduce pain, and relax the muscle.

This therapy can help provide relief for conditions such as: chronic muscle pain, tension headaches, fibromyalgia and other conditions with musculoskeletal pain and tension. The procedure is low risk, minimally invasive, and would be part of a comprehensive pain management or integrative care plan to help rehabilitate and heal globally.  We are especially trained in the incorporation of trigger point therapy along with medical acupuncture for synergistic effects.
